• Common Ignition Problems (Pt. 3)

  • There are probably no drivers who have never faced any ignition related issues throughout the years.

More often than not, ignition related issues require professional treatment, provided by automotive locksmiths. To try to fix an ignition without having the necessary professional knowledge and equipment is not very safe, so if you don't know what the issue is all about and how to fix it, it's better to avoid doing anything yourself and just trust a specialist instead.

Some ignition issues are not that serious and can be fixed with very little effort. The 2 previous articles, as well as this one, are dedicated to them. If you have a security issue that our tips did not help you to overcome, call Locks&Smith Florida at (855) 627-8287 to get the problem fixed by one of our authorized specialists!

You can turn the key, but the engine does not start?

There are many different reasons why something like that could happen. It could be an engine computer issue, a problematic electric circuit in the ignition module, an anti-theft system related problem or something related to the fuel pump.

If the anti-theft light starts to work, then it means that the computer thinks that you entered the wrong key. If the key is not worn (try to use another copy of the car key to make sure about it), then it's either a computer or an anti-theft system related issue. If it's related to the computer - you will have to get the computer re-programmed by a specialist. Anti-theft system issues also require professional treatment, because they are wired into the computer, so professional knowledge and experience will be needed in order to solve this problem.

If the anti-theft light does not start to work, then it means that your key, the anti-theft system and the computer work the way they should, but there is a fuel related issue. In this case, you should make sure that you have fuel in the car. If you do, then turn the key and listen to the buzz that the fuel pump should make. If there is none - it's most probably a fuel pump related issue and you need to call a locksmith company in order to get it fixed.
